Things to do at Cuyahoga Valley

  • Brandywine Falls ↗

    View the waterfall from its boardwalk overlooks, with longer trails available around the wooded gorge.

    NPS describes an accessible upper viewing area; the lower deck requires about 80 steps. Stay on the boardwalks and marked trails.

  • Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail ↗

    Walk or cycle sections of the former canal route, using an open trailhead and a suitable turnaround point.

    Checked September 10, 2026: NPS lists Boston–Lock 29 boardwalk closure windows of August 24–November 20, 2026 and March 29–April 21, 2027 (tentative). Hunt House–Beaver Marsh weekday work runs through September 18, 2026. Check official conditions; do not plan a continuous ride through these closed sections.

  • Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad ↗

    Take a scenic train excursion, or plan a one-way Explorer connection for a hike or bike ride.

    Explorer is not a hop-on/hop-off ticket. Check train times and bicycle weight/battery rules with the operator.

  • Hale Farm & Village ↗

    Explore a living-history site with historic buildings, craft demonstrations and farm animals.

    Visiting opportunities vary with the operator’s seasonal programs and events. Check its calendar before driving there.

  • The Ledges ↗

    Walk among rock formations or visit the overlook in the Virginia Kendall area.

    The 1.8-mile Ledges route is not accessible to visitors with mobility impairments. No rock climbing; Ice Box Cave is closed.

Getting there

Start at the Boston Mill Visitor Center main public lot, 6947 Riverview Road, Peninsula, OH 44264. Boston Store has separate limited-mobility parking; it is not the general visitor-center lot. Check the NPS conditions page before choosing a trail, especially for the Boston-to-Peninsula Towpath segment.
